Friends of Holmer Court

We firmly believe in the power of connection and the joy that comes from lending a helping hand. That’s why we’ve opened our doors to compassionate individuals who are eager to make a positive difference in the lives of our residents. Gardening enthusiasts, friendly souls, and anyone with a desire to spread warmth and companionship are invited to join us on this meaningful journey. Our volunteering initiative offers a unique opportunity to engage with our residents, create lasting bonds, and take part in fulfilling activities.

Volunteers have the chance to nurture and help maintain our serene outdoor spaces. Whether you have a green thumb or simply enjoy getting your hands dirty, we welcome your involvement in making our gardens flourish. The therapeutic benefits of gardening are well-documented, and we believe this activity will not only add natural beauty but also bring a sense of tranquillity to our care home. Beyond gardening, our volunteers have the privilege of spending quality time with our residents. This can include engaging in stimulating conversations, playing games, reading aloud, or enjoying a leisurely stroll together. A friendly face makes a world of difference in brightening the days of those in our care. Through genuine interactions and companionship, volunteers have the chance to create cherished memories while forging meaningful connections with our residents.

This past spring, we transformed our beautiful new troughs, generously donated by the Pearce family. We’ve transformed these troughs into nurseries for our budding sunflower seeds, sown carefully by our wonderful residents.  We’ve kicked off our “Who Can Grow The Biggest Sunflower?” competition and can’t wait to see whose green thumb reigns supreme!
A massive thank you also goes to Colin, a residents family member, who kindly donated the funds for us to visit the garden centre and handpick the most vibrant plants to fill our troughs.  It was a joyful day out, filled with excitement as we chose our future sunflower champions!
A big thank you to the Pearce family and Colin, for your heartfelt contributions. You’ve not only brought colours and life into our home, but also excitement, joy, and a beautiful project for our residents to nurture. Thank you for being ‘Friends of Holmer Court’!
