Running for Rosie

Congratulations to Kay on completing her West Coast half marathon run and raising over £1,050 in support of Dementia UK.

Kay is the daughter of Meadowview Care Home resident Rosie, who was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia mixed with Lewy Body Dementia in July 2021.  At the beginning Kay was looking after Rosie herself, however when her mum’s needs became more challenging Kay had to finally find full-time residential support for her mum and chose Meadowview Care Home.

Kay said “Dementia UK were amazing with my mum so I wanted to raise money to help them continue all their hard work while also helping to raise awareness and better understanding of this horrible disease”.

“My target was £100 so I am delighted to have exceeded that amount by over £1000% and the donations still keep arriving!”.

Dementia is a heart-breaking illness, and it is estimated that by 2025, over one million people in the UK will have a diagnosis of dementia – and almost all of us will know someone living with the condition.

Dementia UK is a registered charity that supports the entire family of someone with dementia through their dementia specialist Admiral Nurses.
