Nursing home resident celebrates 90th birthday
The team at Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home helped resident John Evens celebrate his landmark 90th birthday surrounded by family and friends.
Like others across the world, Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home’s residents have missed out on social events, celebrations, and time with loved ones during the Covid pandemic.
Yet restrictions eased just in time for nonagenarian John Evens to mark his birthday on 23rd September in true celebratory fashion.
John’s family, friends and fellow residents joined him for his special day at the home, where he’s been a much-loved resident for the past 5 years.
Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home’s activity team marked the special day by organising a variety of activities for everyone to join in with. There was even a special tea party, boasting all of John’s favourite treats. It was a real team effort, with the home’s carers decorating the lounge with balloons and banners and presenting John with two homemade cakes: one which was made by his daughter, Helen.
The staff at Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home were determined to honour the occasion and bring the party spirit to the home.
‘We always make an effort to celebrate a resident’s birthday,’ said Home Manager Amie Porter. ‘And for John’s 90th, we wanted to make the event really special. On behalf of everyone at Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home, we’d like to wish John a wonderful 90th birthday. We are delighted to have him as a valued resident in our home.’
