Celebrating Christmas Across Ashberry

The Christmas spirit has filled our homes with warmth, joy and community. Our recent Christmas fayres and parties were a resounding success, uniting residents, families, and staff in moments of laughter and connection. Crafting activities have inspired creativity, beautifully showcasing the remarkable talents of our residents. With festive decorations and everyone’s contributions, our homes have been transformed into magical winter wonderlands. This holiday season has brought us closer, creating cherished memories that will last for years!

Blaenos House Nursing Home

Blaenos House had a truly festive Christmas season, filled with joy and special moments. We were delighted to receive beautiful homemade Christmas cards from Meithrinfa Twts Tywi Nursery – the residents loved the children’s artwork!

Our Christmas Fayre was a busy and wonderful event! We are so grateful to everyone who contributed and came to support us. A big thank you to the Llandovery Choir for their beautiful carol performance, which brought extra festive cheer to the day.

On Christmas Eve, we enjoyed hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, followed by a heartwarming nativity story and carol sing-along.

Thank you to everyone who made this holiday season so special, and congratulations to our lucky raffle winners!

Broomy Hill Nursing Home

Broomy Hill was filled with festive cheer and special moments. Our staff enjoyed the annual Christmas Tractor Run, and we visited church, catching the Santa Run in Hereford before singing “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.”

We had a wonderful trip to the Aspire Centre, where we enjoyed a festive lunch with turkey, mince pies, and Christmas pudding. A big thank you to Aspire Living for their warm hospitality.

We were delighted to welcome the children from Lord Scudamore Academy and Riverside Primary School, whose beautiful carols brought joy to our residents. Special thanks to the students, staff, and our activity lead Karon for making these visits memorable.

Alex the Memory Man led a fun and creative Christmas activity, and on Christmas Day, Mr. and Mrs. Claus made a special visit, thanks to Rosie and David. Our residents also enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch, prepared by Andy and Ewa, followed by a festive music show from Musicare.

Holmer Court Care Home

We had a wonderful Christmas meal out, enjoying a delicious three-course feast and getting into the festive spirit. We also had a magical trip to Wellington Garden Centre to admire their stunning decorations. Of course, no outing is complete without indulging in huge cakes and our “special coffee.” Our new minibus has been a real treat, making outings more frequent and enjoyable for everyone.

Our Christmas Craft Fayre was a great success, raising £350 for our resident fund. Thanks to the Hereford Ukulele Group for their fantastic performance, and congratulations to Dot for winning the gin raffle! We also got creative with snow globes and enjoyed a festive walk through town.

The mischievous elves kept everyone entertained, and Annie’s storytelling brought holiday classics to life. A visit from Santa, complete with personal gifts for each resident, added a special touch to the season. We also enjoyed party games, including a hamper raffle that raised £60 for our residents’ fund. Congratulations to Kevin, our new team member, on winning!

The Christmas magic continued with a performance from the Burghill and Tillington Handbell Ringers. Richard was busy once again, and this time he’s created a stunning sleigh for the garden for our residents to enjoy!

A special moment was the visit from two reindeer, which brought magical Christmas joy to our residents. (Read more about the reindeer here.) We also enjoyed a beautiful piano performance from Gareth, a talented family member.

Christmas Day at Holmer Court was filled with warmth,laughter, and unforgettable memories. Our residents, staff, and everyone involved made it a memorable day full of warmth and happiness.

Engelberg Care Home

We had a truly magical Christmas season at Engelberg, filled with joy and special moments. The month started with a lovely visit to St Regis Church of England Academy in Tettenhall, where we enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch (with all the trimmings!) and a fantastic performance by their gospel choir. Thank you to the students for a wonderful time and Wolverhampton City Council for the transport, and to our driver Ian for getting us there safely.

Our Christmas Jingle Mingle was a highlight, filled with laughter, music, and great company. A big thank you to everyone who joined us and made the event special.

Our home looked extra festive this year, thanks to the beautiful contributions of our Engelberg team. Tara, our carer, created stunning purple baubles, each featuring the initials of our wonderful residents. A special thank you to Sue, our chaplain, for the incredible dollhouse.

We had another fantastic Christmas party that was a hit,with entertainer Gerry bringing festive cheer, followed by fun games and delicious treats.

We also enjoyed festive lunches with roast meals, drinks,and a visit from Santa, who brought personal gifts to each resident. This Christmas was full of joy, love, and unforgettable moments, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who made it so special.

Meadowview Care Home

One of the highlights of Christmas at Meadowview was our lively session with Rise, where everyone participated in exercises for legs ,arms and shoulders. The snowball fight was the real standout, sparking laughter and friendly competition among residents. These physical activities are so important for boosting mobility and well-being, and we can't wait for more in the New Year!

Our residents also had a wonderful time at St. Joseph’s Christmas Fayre, supporting a cause close to our hearts - raising funds for children with cancer. The afternoon tea, delicious cake, and beautiful carols from the children made the day truly special.

Our Christmas Fayre was a huge success, raising over £500for our residents' fund. The support from families and staff was incredible,and we are so grateful to everyone who contributed. We also enjoyed visits fromthe Penketh High School Choir, Penketh South Primary, and our local Scoutgroup, spreading holiday cheer throughout the home.

Christmas Day was a magical celebration, with gifts, festive meals, and wonderful company. Thanks to Lou for the beautiful table decorations and our kitchen team for the delicious three-course meal. The festive spirit was alive and well, and it was a day filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Moorhouse Care Home

The festive spirit was alive as residents decorated our Christmas trees, sharing laughter and memories. Peggy and Mihail’s giggles were unforgettable!

Our Christmas fete was a huge success, and we’re thrilled to share that we raised over £200! A massive thank you to everyone who came along, supported us, and made the day so special. From the exciting raffle and tombola to the crowd-favourites like “How Many Sweets in the Jar” and “Guess the Weight of the Christmas Cake”, there was something for everyone to enjoy. A special shoutout to our talented Peggy, who created stunning flower arrangements that added a beautiful touch to the day.

We were treated to carols by the St. Albans Church choir, spreading joy with their beautiful voices.

Santa joined our residents for our Christmas Day lunch before delivering personal gifts to everyone. Staff, including our manager, enjoyed a festive meal alongside residents, creating a wonderful family atmosphere. Our talented chef served an incredible 3-course feast with all the classic favourites – a huge thank you for the delicious options! We also pulled crackers, wore our hats, and laughed at all the festive jokes. It was a day full of joy and togetherness! Residents also loved receiving cards from St. Bartholomew’s students, showcasing our wonderful community spirit.

As we bid farewell to the holiday season, we reflect on the joy and friendship it brought to our homes. The laughter, creativity, and cherished moments we shared have left lasting memories that will warm our hearts throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who made this festive season so special - we look forward to creating more wonderful moments together in the months to come.
