Time for a cuppa: raising funds for Dementia UK

At Ashberry Healthcare, we are proud to announce the success of our recent fundraising efforts for Dementia UK’s biggest annual fundraiser, Time for a Cuppa. Three of our care homes—Meadowview Care Home, Engelberg Care Home, and Blaenos House Nursing Home—came together with colleagues, neighbours, friends, and family to raise vital funds for Dementia UK. These funds will go towards supporting the recruitment of more specialist dementia nurses across the UK.

Blaenos House

Blaenos House Nursing Home hosted a delightful bake-off among colleagues, which provided the cakes for the tea party that welcomed friends, family, and the local community. The event featured an array of phenomenal cakes that not only looked fantastic but tasted even better. Wellbeing coordinator Ivy came first place with her bakes. The event raised an amazing £210 for Dementia UK! It was a heart-warming gathering that brought everyone together for a great cause.

Meadowview Care Home

Over at Meadowview Care Home, the festivities included a tea party complete with live music, raffles, and an abundance of sweet treats. The lively atmosphere was infectious, and the event successfully raised £85 for Dementia UK. The combination of music, community spirit, and delicious food made it a memorable occasion for all who attended.

Engelberg Care Home

Engelberg Care Home saw an overwhelming turnout, with so many people attending that the gathering spilt over onto the landing. The superb cakes, delightful coffee, and unbeatable company created a beautiful morning of camaraderie and connection. Guests also enjoyed a morning tea trivia session, adding a fun and interactive element to the event.

The Impact of Your Support

Someone develops dementia every three minutes in the UK – that’s the time it takes to boil a kettle. Dementia UK’s specialist dementia nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing advice and support to those affected by dementia. However, with the rising number of families impacted by this condition, many are not receiving the support they desperately need.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our events and helped us achieve our fundraising goals. Your generosity and support are invaluable in helping the charity provide the necessary care for those affected by dementia.

Dr. Hilda Hayo, Chief Admiral Nurse and CEO of Dementia UK, expressed her gratitude, saying:

“We believe every family affected by dementia should have the support of a specialist nurse – but right now, we can’t reach everyone who needs us. We are grateful to Ashberry Care Homes for taking part in Time for a Cuppa this year to help us to recruit more Admiral Nurses and provide a lifeline to families up and down the country who urgently need our support. There is no cure for dementia, but there is care.”

Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to improving the lives of those affected by dementia.
