What is residential care?

Residential care (also known as assisted living or long-term care) is care given to
your loved one within a specialist environment equipped with facilities and
amenities that help our fully qualified and experienced staff deliver the
very best care. Surrounded by like-minded residents, your loved one will receive one-
on-one care whilst taking part in a range of activities and enjoying freshly made,
delicious meals prepared in-house by our talented chefs.
Great residential care is about empowering residents to live life to the fullest and
maintain their dignity and independence. It includes everything your loved one
needs, including:

● Accommodation
● 24/7 assistance and care from our qualified team
● Social activities
● Three home-cooked meals a day, plus snacks and drinks
● Safety and security amenities
● Medical care
● Housekeeping and maintenance

Who is residential care for?

A residential care home offers support for families of loved ones who may struggle to
provide them with everything they need. Many of our residents suffer from dementia
and other serious illnesses and conditions, and without specialist care families and
their friends can find caring for them difficult.

Our trained and experienced team works diligently to ensure that residents living
with medical conditions and cognitive decline can continue to live independently
and maintain their dignity at all times.

Residential care ensures the comfort and safety of your loved one is always the focus.
So, with them receiving such a high level of care, you shouldn’t need to feel
guilty in any way – your loved one will be in a caring environment, surrounded by
professionals who have their best interests and preferences in mind.

When is residential care needed?

Residential care may be needed once your loved one struggles to live independently,
even with the support of yourself and other family and friends. This may come
suddenly, such as after a serious illness for example, or slowly over time due to the
effects of dementia.

Residential care may be needed for loved ones who may not be able to get out of
bed or get dressed by themselves, prepare and eat meals, bathe or take their
medication. Residential care ensures your loved one lives in an inclusive
environment that prevents isolation and keeps them as active as possible.

It also allows your loved one to retain their independence for as long as possible and
provides you with the confidence that there are experienced and dedicated carers
available 24/7.

Our approach to residential care

Our affordable yet expert residential care is always discreet and takes care of
personal needs with an understanding of independence, privacy and individual
preferences. We encourage our residents to express their feelings and choices at
every opportunity in an environment that’s caring, fulfilling and loving.

Our team consists of experienced professionals who listen to the preferences of our
residents. Including our managers, carers, chefs, activities coordinators, cleaning
team and more, everything we do is with our residents’ comfort and happiness in
mind.

We have modern amenities in clean, open and thoughtfully
designed premises, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Residents can
take part in a range of activities, from gardening to arts and crafts, and will enjoy
three freshly prepared meals and homemade snacks throughout
the day. We treat every one of our residents in the same way we’d want to be
treated; – with care and compassion.

We are proud of our dedicated staff members across the Ashberry Healthcare group, such as Richard Jones, who was awarded the Hereford Times Care Home Worker of the Year 2023
