Here at Blaenos House, we support your loved one with residential care, dementia care, nursing care, respite care and palliative/end-of-life care. As well as specialist memory care, we also provide our residents with comfort and companionship. Most residents are Welsh and many of our staff, from caregivers to housekeepers, speak fluent Welsh, to provide our residents with a sense of familiarity.
We understand that caring for loved ones living with memory loss can be upsetting. Our trained and qualified team is here to support you too, and utilise a Care Control system to keep you fully updated on the care your loved one receives. This also saves our team time to ensure we can deliver thorough care at all times.

Rooms
From the moment your loved one steps through our doors, they’ll feel right at home. Everything at Blaenos House has been designed with our residents’ safety, comfort and happiness in mind, from the bright and open communal spaces to the dementia-sensitive colour palettes.
Blaenos House Nursing Home has 38 bedrooms over two floors. Most of our rooms overlook the fantastic garden and the surrounding Welsh countryside, and each room includes a 24-hour call button as well as a floor sensor mat.
For our dementia and memory care residents, the home-from-home feeling is crucial, and the layout of Blaenos House has been designed with this in mind. We comfortably furnish every room, but we invite your loved one to bring their own furnishings and belongings for added familiarity.
Dining
Our in-house chef prepares nutritionally-balanced, homemade and delicious meals for all our residents at Blaenos House Nursing Home, no matter their preferences or needs.
For our residents living with dysphasia, we don’t compromise on the quality of their meals, and foods are pureed yet presented perfectly. Every meal includes fresh ingredients and local produce where possible, including the Royal Warrant of appointment, Mathews Butchers.
As well as three home-cooked main meals per day, your loved one can enjoy morning and afternoon tea with freshly-baked cakes and biscuits. Hot and cold drinks are also available throughout the day.
Activities
Routine and regularity help our residents feel at home. Our dedicated in-house activities coordinator plans both outdoor and indoor activities to suit your loved one, based on personal preferences and individual needs. Activities include stone painting, dexterity and flexibility exercises using balloons, bowling, singalong, quizzes, reminiscing and recollection of the past, hand massages and producing homemade chutneys and jams.
For our green-fingered residents, Blaenos House Nursing Home boasts extensive gardens for potting and planting. If your loved one prefers to relax in the fresh air, they can enjoy our secure, carefully maintained gardens and patios and the warmth of the conservatory.
New at Blaenos House is The Hope Inn, our very own in-house pub. Residents can meet friends and family for a drink, enjoy a bite to eat and even play a game of darts in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Also new is our sensory room, which helps our guests feel calm and relaxed and has been designed to prevent overstimulation. Each of our new experiences provides further familiarity and care for our residents.

Home Manager
Home manager Amie has worked in care for almost two decades and is delighted to have chosen such a rewarding career. Amie’s dedication led to her being awarded Welsh Businesswoman of the Year in 2018. She has worked with many talented carers during her time in the industry and considers it an honour to work with the fabulous team at Blaenos House where she provides exemplary care to our residents. Amie has been with us for over 10 years and considers her team and the residents an extension of her own family.

Just a few minutes from the centre of Llandovery and surrounded by rolling Welsh countryside, Blaenos House Nursing Home in Carmarthenshire is close to the A40.
The house is a former convent and was originally the Home of the Order of Carmelite Nuns. Today, you’ll find nods to the nuns’ traditions and history throughout the extensive gardens, but with all the modern features that ensure we can provide expert care for your loved one.
